We built the tool we couldn't find.

Compass connects community organizations, community health workers and the members they serve, so getting support is simple and helping people comes first.

Why we started

Helping, and getting help, shouldn't be this hard.

Running health hubs and working alongside CHWs in South LA, we saw the same problem from every side. Everyone wanted the same thing, people getting the support they need, and the system made it harder for all of them.

Medi-Cal members

Needed help, but didn't know who to turn to.

Support with essentials like food, housing and health care existed, but asking for it and actually getting it was anything but simple.

Community organizations

Wanted better ways to capture their data.

Hours went to sign-in sheets and spreadsheets for funder reports, time taken from the people in their line.

Community health workers

Wanted to help on their own terms.

The flexibility to work when they want, without the paperwork that leads to burnout.

We wanted asking for support and receiving it to feel seamless for members, simple for organizations, and sustainable for CHWs. We couldn't find a tool that did all three, so we started building it.

Our goal is to unlock people's potential, starting with the people who help their neighbors.

Pharmacist with 7+ years across healthcare, higher education and biotech. For 6+ years he has founded and scaled TENA, an LA 501(c)(3) that trains CHWs and delivers Medi-Cal care navigation, where we first saw the problem Compass solves.
